Hello | Xin chào
I’m Lan. I consider myself a community scholar-activist who works in and with community for equitable social and spatial change in the context of global urbanization, climate change, and disasters. As a professional community development planner in California, I learned that sustainable development is community-driven with support from outside organizations with resources and power. My professional experiences led me to question theoretical framings and public policy around race, urbanism, and disasters. That is why I came back to university to earn my PhD in Interdisciplinary Urban Design and Planning at the University of Washington, Seattle.
